FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most before, during, and after a bench session.

What exactly is a deflection board, and why start there?

A deflection board measures how much a shaft bends and twists under a controlled load, separate from any head or golfer. Starting here lets us understand a shaft's natural behavior before your own swing ever enters the picture, so the fitting isn't guessing at two variables at once.

Do I need a fast swing speed or low handicap to benefit?

No — shaft mismatches are just as common, and often more costly, for moderate and slower swing speeds. A shaft that's too stiff for a smoother tempo can hurt launch and distance more than almost any other equipment factor.

How long does a bench session take?

Single-club sessions (driver, fairway wood, hybrid, wedge, or putter) run 45–60 minutes. Iron set sessions run 60–90 minutes. A full bag assessment covering every club typically runs 2.5–3 hours.

Am I required to buy clubs after my session?

Never. You leave with a written build spec regardless of whether you order anything that day. If you do move forward, your session fee is credited in full toward the build.

What should I bring with me?

Bring the clubs relevant to your fitting, the shoes you normally wear on the course, and a rough sense of your typical scores if you know them. If you have a favorite headcover or grip you already like, feel free to bring that too.

Do you fit left-handed golfers?

Yes. Our demo wall carries left-handed heads across every major category, and the deflection board and tracking equipment work identically regardless of handedness.

How is this different from hitting demo clubs at a big-box store?

Swinging a demo and guessing whether it "feels" stiffer or softer tells you very little — shaft flex labels aren't standardized across brands. Board testing gives us an actual frequency and deflection number to compare against, then on-range verification confirms it against your real ball flight.

How soon will my new clubs be ready?

Most builds are completed in-house within a week of ordering, since components are stocked on-site rather than routed through an outside factory queue.

What if my new clubs need a small adjustment once I start playing them?

Any loft, lie, or length tweak requested within 30 days of pickup is included at no additional charge while your swing settles into the new build.

What areas do you serve outside of Boise?

Our studio is located in Boise, Idaho, and we regularly see clients from Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, and Garden City as well.
