About

A Studio Built Around One Piece of Equipment

Not a launch monitor — a deflection board. Everything else about how we fit clubs in Boise follows from that one decision.

What We Won't Compromise On

Three Rules the Whole Studio Runs On

Measure the Shaft on Its Own

Every shaft is tested for spine, frequency, and deflection independent of any head, so the decision is never quietly made by whatever demo happens to be bolted on that day.

Every Major Line on the Wall

We're not committed to a single manufacturer's yearly lineup, which means a recommendation is never a production quota wearing a lab coat.

You Keep the Build Ticket Either Way

Every session ends with a written spec sheet that's yours to keep, whether you order clubs from us that day or simply walk away with better numbers.

Our Story

Founded on a Deflection Board Nobody Else in Town Was Using

Shaft Lab Golf opened in Boise in 2012 after years of watching golfers get fit to a head first and a shaft as an afterthought — even though two clubs stamped with the same flex label could load in completely different ways once a real swing got hold of them. Nobody locally had the bench equipment to explain that difference, so we bought it ourselves.

A dedicated frequency-and-deflection board, still the centerpiece of the studio today, let us test shaft behavior on its own terms before ever worrying about a specific head. More than fourteen years and nine thousand logged swings later, that's still the first step of every fitting we run.

Meet the People on the Bench

Our fitters split time between certification training and hands-on hours running the deflection board itself.
