What We Capture

Turf Interaction Is Part of the Fitting, Not an Afterthought

We test candidate shafts on the board for kick point and weight, then watch how the head interacts with the turf on the range — sweeping strikes versus slightly descending ones behave differently depending on sole design and shaft profile.

Because fairway woods get hit from more variable lies than a driver, we also check performance from a light rough lie, not only a perfect range mat.

What Actually Changes in This Fitting

Shaft Weight & Load

A shaft that's noticeably heavier or lighter than your driver's can throw off tempo between the two clubs. We match load characteristics so both feel like part of the same swing.

Sole Design & Turf Interaction

Wider, rounder soles glide through turf more forgivingly on a descending strike; narrower soles suit players who sweep the ball more.

Loft Spread

We check the loft gap against your driver and hybrids so no distance is duplicated or left completely uncovered in the bag.

Length

Slightly shorter than standard often improves center-strike percentage on fairway woods, which typically outweighs a small amount of theoretical distance.
