Driver Fitting

The driver shows more total distance variance than any other club in the bag, and it's usually the one club golfers still buy straight off the rack. A shaft-first driver fitting is typically the single largest gain available in one session.

What We Capture

Your Signature First, Then the Shaft, Then the Ball

We start with a short set of swings on your current driver to establish tempo ratio and load timing — before touching a single demo. From there, candidate shafts go through the deflection board for spine orientation, frequency, and kick point, narrowing the field before we ever hit a ball with a tracking unit running.

Only once the shaft short list is set do we move to on-range verification, where ball speed, launch, spin, and carry confirm the board results actually hold up under a real swing.

What Actually Changes in a Driver Fitting

Shaft Weight & Kick Point

Shaft weight shapes swing timing more than the flex label alone. We match weight class and kick point to your tempo ratio before considering anything else.

Spine Orientation

Every shaft has a stiffer plane from manufacturing. Orienting it consistently in the head can tighten dispersion in ways a generic build never accounts for.

Torque & Feel

Lower torque tends to suit faster, more aggressive transitions; higher torque can add feel and a softer release for smoother tempos.

Loft & Face Angle

Adjustable hosels let us dial loft in half-degree steps once the shaft decision is locked in, rather than compensating for a shaft that was never right to begin with.

Head MOI

Moment of inertia determines how forgiving a head is on off-center strikes. Higher-MOI heads resist twisting on mishits; lower-MOI heads suit players who shape shots on demand.

Grip Size

An oversized or undersized grip quietly changes hand action through impact, which can shift face angle at contact. We check it on every driver session.

Common Misses

What a Driver Fitting Can Fix

The Slice

A left-to-right spin axis tilt is often a face-to-path issue, but the wrong shaft weight or kick point can quietly make it worse. Matching both to your tempo reduces curvature meaningfully while you work on swing mechanics.

Low, Knuckling Shots

Insufficient launch and spin — often a kick point that's too high for your attack angle — causes shots to fall short of their potential. Board-tested shaft selection typically resolves this before loft even needs to change.

Ballooning in the Wind

Excess spin sends shots up and back, costing distance and exposing the ball to wind. A shaft with a lower kick point paired with the right loft flattens the flight.

Inconsistent Strike Location

If your dispersion pattern shows strikes scattered across the face, spine misalignment is worth ruling out before assuming it's purely a swing issue.
